Brownie Refrigerator Cake

Easy dessert with common ingredients

Prep time 20 minutes / chilling time 4 hours
Ingredients:
1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients on the box)
1 package 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip thawed and divided
2 boxes (3.9 oz each) chocolate instant pudding mix
3 cups cold milk
chocolate shavings if desired
Directions:
Preheat the oven as directed on the box
Prepare the Brownie Layer according to the instructions on the box. Bake in a 9x13 pan
Allow the brownies to cool completely
Cream Cheese Layer
In a medium bowl beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
Fold in half the whipped topping.
Spread over the cooled brownies
Chocolate Pudding Layer
In a separate bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding and cold milk until thickened
Spread over the cream cheese layer
Chill
Spread the remaining Cool Whip over the pudding layer. Garnish if desired.
Chill for at least 4 hours.
Cook's Notes:
The only thing difficult about this recipe is getting the timing right. Be sure to cool the brownie completely and chill for at least 4 hours so everything can set.
